Preparing Your Video Submission
Best Practices
The following best practices have been provided to help you successfully prepare and record your video submission for the 2022 Full Circle Competition. For more detail on the best practices listed below, please refer to the 2022 Full Circle Sales Consultant Announcement on Go Far Academy.
-
Plan the Shoot
Create a script and a shot list.
A script will help keep you on point and a shot list will help you down the road if you are editing your video.
-
Set up the shoot
We strongly recommend filming with a tripod as any movement on a camera, no matter how minor, can feel jarring to a viewer
Film horizontally, if you film vertically with a smart phone you will get a video that does not expand well on a widescreen like a laptop monitor or TV.
Think about the area where you are shooting your video -probably the showroom floor in this case. Be mindful of lighting, shadows, background objects, etc.
-
Sound
Try to turn off background noise (something even as minor as an AC running can be picked up as an annoying background hum)
Let people know you are filming and ask them to stay quiet and not move around near the camera.
Shoot the same segment multiple times. You might think you 'nailed' that shot but do it again. It is better to have 2 or 3 great clips rather than finding out your one 'perfect' shot had an issue you could not see until after filming.
-
Editing
Now that you have filmed and have all your shots, it is time to stick it all together. There are many free services available and most computers ship with editing software pre-installed. These applications should be enough to stitch together your segments into a fluid video.
Ideally if you followed the above steps you will have more than enough clips to choose from. Now just pick the best and combine them.
Refer to your shot list and place your videos in an order that makes sense.
Render / export your video at a manageable size (1080p and 30-60 Frames Per Second (FPS)) is sufficient. For more rural dealers where uploading large files might pose an issue, 720p and 24-30 FPS is recommended.
